Burning is allowed per the following permit information and Ordinance 34.25, which you must read and agree to abide by the Burning Permit and Ordinance. The permit is valid from the date of application through the end of the current calendar year.
To obtain your permit, you must download, open, and fill out the form and keep it for your records. The Town no longer needs a copy of your form. Click here to download the form and ordinance, Section 34.25.
No burning of the following:
*Asphalt
*Oily substances
*Plastic
*Rubber
More information on materials, volume and quantities of items to be burned are found in Ordinance 34.25. Burning is allowed from sunup to sundown only. You must be attending the fire with a water source. Fire must comply to Department of Natural Resources burning rules. Wind must be less than 9 miles per hour. Any fire may be ordered to be extinguished by either the Fire Department or the Police Department if it is determined to be a nuisance or not compliant with any of the rules in the ordinance or this permit.
